Andrew is now planning for his return to Mt Everest in the pre monsoon season of 2011 to achieve what he was unable to get a permit for in March this year.  With luck he will obtain the permit to achieve his dream of traversing the mountain but if that permit is not available then he will still attempt a solo, oxygenless ascent of one side of the mountain.  With a departure date of early April, stay tuned for details.

Andrew’s recent attempt at a solo, oxygenless climb of the North Ridge was thwarted by strong winds but the expedition was successful with his first climb on the north side of Everest. For further news click on Live Despatches.
However, as a reward for more than 20 years dedication to mountaineering, Andrew was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia on the Queens Birthday, June 2011.  For further information see News article.   In October he attended the medal presentation ceremony at NSW Government House where the NSW Governor Marie Bashir presented him with his medal.
