The Great Traverse Expedition – Winter Traverse of the Brooks Range, Alaska
Very excited to be gearing up my next major expedition, which will take place from December 2016 to March 2017. In conjunction with Neil Ward, with whom I climbed on a couple of 8000 metre peaks, Makalu and Shishapangma, I’ll be heading to Alaska at the end of this year to attempt a winter traverse of the Brooks Range. The range extends 1600 kilometres from the west coast of Alaska right across to the Canadian border where it sweeps north to meet the Beaufort Sea.
Preparation has been underway for almost a year and as part of our training, Neil and I traveled to the Canadian in March 2016 to get a feel for towing sleds in -30C temperatures. It was cold!
I’m very grateful to have some fantastic sponsors to help us out with what will undoubtedly be a major epic. Hoping to get a few more on board before we go.
Stay tuned for more updates and regular blogs on facebook throughout the expedition.
