Another Simpson desert trip just completed with some close friends.  Six of us in 3 four wheel drives crossed east to west via the French line.  Along the way we experienced a spectacular lunar eclipse in the clearest possible night sky.  After a day to check our vehicles in Mt Dare, we recrossed the desert via the remote Madigan Lines.  Both crossings offered of red sand, corrugations, dunes large and small, a bit of wildlife, billabongs, stunning sunsets.  The Australian desert’s have an extraordinary beauty with that red sand and surprising amount of greenery.   It’s a far cry from my usual mountain jaunts but I love it out there.
